Here are some questions people often ask. If your question is not answered here, please contact me and ask directly.
Where are you based?
I’m based in Manchester, in the North West of England, but I travel widely for work. Most of my clients are in Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and Yorkshire but I’ve worked with people in Belfast, Aberdeen, London and many other places around the UK.
Where does the coaching take place?
Generally, I coach clients at their workplaces. In cases where this isn’t suitable or feasible, we hire a meeting room somewhere convenient for the client to get to.
How far will you travel?
As far as necessary. I enjoy travelling and am happy to do it, though beyond the local area I will need to charge you for expenses and, to some extent, time.
How long does a coaching session last?
A standard session lasts an hour and a half – and you might be surprised how much we can achieve in that time. If distance is a factor, it may make sense to book a double session.
How much coaching will I need?
It largely depends what stage you’re at and what your objectives are. If you’re reasonably experienced at teaching/training, there’s a lot we can do to move you on in an hour and a half. Let’s discuss it and make a plan together.
Do you do group coaching as well as one to one?
Occasionally. On the whole, I find one-to-one coaching much more effective but there are cases where a group session can be useful. Please get in touch and we can talk about it.
How much do you charge?
It depends to some extent what is involved. My fee for a standard 90-minute session with corporate clients is 385 GBP. This includes local travel (broadly, within the M60 Manchester ring road).
My rate for charities and private clients (ie, if you’re paying me yourself) is lower. Please let me know your situation and we can discuss fees.
If we need to hire a meeting/training room, I’m happy to take responsibility for finding somewhere if you would like me to, but I have to pass the cost on to you.
My subject is obscure and you probably don’t know anything about it. Can you still help me?
Absolutely! In some ways, it can be useful if I don’t know understand what you’re teaching because it’ll help you to think about simplifying your explanations. Of course, your students may be very advanced but I don’t need to fathom every detail of what you’re teaching to be able to know whether you’re putting it across effectively.
I don’t want anyone to know I’m having this coaching. Will you please be discreet?
Of course. A lot of my clients feel like this and I completely understand and respect it. If I come to your workplace, I can introduce myself in any way you ask me to.
Can you give me a qualification?
No. I am an individual with no accrediting body behind me; I can’t provide any sort of teaching or training qualification. What I can do is help you become the best teacher/trainer/lecturer you can be, but if you need a certificate, I’m afraid you’ll need to contact a big organisation.
